We are a local fishmonger delivering locally, on purpose. Here is exactly how it works, what it costs, and what we have not sorted out yet.
We deliver across SS & CM postcodes — Southend, Leigh-on-Sea, Basildon, Chelmsford and the towns around them.
We drive every order out ourselves rather than handing it to a courier. That is why the area is tight: it is the distance we can cover and still put the fish through your door in the state it left the shop.
Outside that area? We are not set up for it yet. Nationwide next-day delivery is planned for our Staples range once we have the premises and the volume to do it properly, and we would rather wait than post you fish we cannot stand behind.
Postcodes we currently cover: SS0, SS1, SS2, SS3, SS9, CM0, CM3
Nothing. Local delivery is free, with no minimum spend and no threshold to reach — whether you order one fillet or a large box.
There is no delivery line at checkout to be surprised by, and no charge that changes with the size of your order.
One-off orders: order from the board by 9am and it goes out the same day. The board changes with what the boats land, so what is on it in the morning is what there is.
Subscription boxes: two fixed slots a week, Tuesday or Friday, and you pick which one when you sign up. Tuesday is fish for the week ahead, Friday is fish for the weekend. It is the same slot every time so you know when to expect us.
We do not run a Monday delivery. The markets are shut on Sunday, so a Monday box would mean fish bought on Saturday and held over the weekend, which is not what we are selling.
We have not set delivery time windows yet. Until we do, we will tell you when to expect us rather than leave you guessing.
Wrapped, boxed on ice and sealed the same morning it is filleted. Even on a short local run it goes out insulated with ice packs, because the point of buying fish this fresh is that it is still that fresh when it reaches your kitchen.
Nothing sits in a depot overnight, and nothing is bulked out with frozen stock.
Not yet. Collection needs a registered premises to collect from, and ours is still being arranged. It is planned for as soon as that is sorted.
We buy for our subscription boxes on the same Tuesday and Friday runs described above. Pre-order ahead of that run and we buy your fish alongside it, including things we do not normally keep on the counter — see the pre-order board.
Each slot has its own cut-off, timed to land before the buying run it feeds: the Tuesday slot closes the Sunday before, the Friday slot closes the Wednesday before.
Friday: cut-off Wednesday 18:00 · Tuesday: cut-off Sunday 18:00
